8/30/80 starts one of the best runs of the 80's and perhaps ever.

This 2nd set from the Spectrum is very well played, sound quality from this sbd is not as good as 9/4 or 9/6

8/31...as you mentioned a great show, high energy and played flawlessly.

9/2/80 & 9/3/80 were part of the download series. 9/2 has the well known Sugaree & Dew.

The show on 9/4/80 is one of the best shows of the year and one of my all time great finds from the archive. There's not one bad note from the whole show. Highlights are Peggy-o, Supplication Jam, China Rider, Estimated Eyes and a GDTRFB that is hard to beat from any era (just listen to Jerry's solos if you dont believe me). the sound is as good as it gets.

And then you end the week with the great Lewiston show with a set list anyone would die for.

Other than May 1977 are there any other strings of continuous shows in a row as good as this? Perhaps 7/31/82 to 8/10/82.......I dont know the 60's and 70's well enough to comment.

As for other great runs, the third week of April, 1982 - 4/15,4/17,4/18 and 4/19 is pretty amazing.

4/18 and 4/19 space will blow your mind if you've never heard them before ...

Fen, I hadn't heard 3rd week of April before. Thanks for the heads up. Been listening this week and it didn't disappoint!

Not to nitpick, but just for clarification:

The 9/02 second set homestretch was included as bonus material on a Dick's Picks, I'm not sure which one.

9/03 and the second set of 9/04 were released in the download.

9/06 is just an epic show - the closest I ever got to an old-timey Grateful Dead marathon.

Today's pick was great, too - thanks for the heads-up.

Thanks for the correction. The post space songs from 9/2 were included on the 11/1/85 Dicks Picks and you are correct that 9/3 & 9/4 are part of the d/l series. I should have known that considering the terrible sbd for 9/2 that's out there.
